It’s not too late to make your Father’s Day lenses. The holiday falls on the 15th of June this year but, face it, most people don’t start looking for the perfect Father’s Day idea until the week before – or even the night before! So focus on last-minute ways to make dad feel special, like simple crafts the kids can make, subscriptions or gift cards he can enjoy throughout the year, or even recipes to cook up to make your dad feel like a king on his special day.
Speaking of food, backyard barbecues and relaxing picnics are fixtures all summer long. Recipe lenses are more popular than ever (and Squidoo promotes them all over the social ‘net), so feel free to share the secret ingredients for your favorite BBQ sauce, succulent side dishes, or delicious desserts that are easy to serve in the backyard or transport safely to the park or the beach.
Will you be traveling this summer? Millions of families will be on the road and they’re already looking for information on the best summer travel sites, how to keep the kids entertained in the car, how not to get burned at the beach, and what to do with all those seashells. How can you help? Anticipate their questions and get your how-to lenses ready.
More daylight hours mean more time spent outside for recreation and for getting around to the DIY projects that populate every family’s honey-do list. Document your own camp-out, river float trip, or gardening or sandbox-building project then share those pictures, instructions, and special tips in a lens for others who are searching for information on the very same activities.
Planning to take it easy this month and enjoy a few good books? Or maybe you’re more into movies. Both readers and movie fans frequently turn to the web to look for opinions and critiques. Squidoo’s review format is so easy to use, you can turn out an excellent book or movie review lens literally in half an hour. Just remember to give it your own personal touch.
If summer just isn’t your thing, or if you live on the other half of the earth where the weather’s getting cooler instead of warmer, keep in mind that it’s never too early to work on your fall holiday lenses. Update the old ones then work on some new ones so that they’ll be at the ready when those holidays start sneaking up on us.
So, do you have a lensmaking plan for June? Did any of our suggestions tickle your lensmaking fancy? Feel free to share your plan for the new month in a comment below. And to all the dads out there, have a happy Father’s Day!
