Happy Spring! Time to write about summer.

Bradford Pear by dmott9 on Flickr via creative commons licenseHooray, it’s officially Spring! Seems like it’s been an extra-cold, extra-long winter in this part of the world.

But as we welcome springtime and its promise of better weather, we need to start planning and writing our summer lenses.

Here’s an off-the-top-of-the-head list of summer lens topic ideas:

Trips to the beach.
Summer trips to the mountains.
Camping in the wilderness, in a state park, or in the backyard.
How to entertain the kids when school’s out.
Fun activities that happen to be educational (don’t tell the kids!).
Summer picnics.
Lemonade.
Pretty porch furniture.
Day trips in your state.
Fireworks and the 4th of July.
How to decorate a parade float.
Barbecues!
Let’s put on a show!
How to get the most out of our gardens.
Easy ways to stay cool.
Smart ways to keep our pets safe in hot weather.
How to avoid mosquitos and other summer flying pests.
Planting to encourage the honeybee population.
Butterflies!

That’s just a handful of topics from my head. What summer lens ideas are in yours? Share them, if you like, in a comment below.

Susan52 didn't know she wanted to be a Giant Squid when she grew up, but here she is and she couldn't be happier about it! When she isn't doing one thing or another here at Squidoo, you'll probably find her spending time with her family or otherwise appreciating life one moment at a time.

We don’t actually have spring here yet. Between winter and spring we have a 5th season in central NY – Mud Season. And there’s still snow on the ground and more in the forecast….Regardless – nice to think of sunny days and a lot of good ideas there, Susan. Thanks.

Love all the ideas and it was neat to be reminded of the staggered season around the globe. As an organizer and chronic planner I always get to the end of a season and suffer the “oh I didn’t get to go here, or I didn’t make this seasonal favorite, must remember to do it first next year.” So I began making lists of things and “Scheduling” them in until the actually get done, then documenting them so I could reminisce the fun during the dreaded winter and look for ways to improve the experiences, preserve the favorite fruit so I could have it whenever I want it. etc..
