Meet Michellle, a very new lensmaster whose presence on Squidoo is a side effect of having the flu! She’s been very busy already and we’re thrilled to have her here. Read the flu story and more in our interview.
What brought you to Squidoo? While fighting the flu, I was looking for appropriate links about the Chinese New Year for my reading students. I stumbled upon a brilliant Squidoo lens: http://www.squidoo.com/chinesenewyearunitstudy At first I thought Squidoo was just a resource for teachers and home schoolers. Wow, was I mistaken. I am still blown away by the breadth of topics and number of lenses on this site.
Anyway, I was sick and at home. I thought I’d try to write one lens- just one. Truthfully, the first couple of lenses about Therapy Dogs were already written in my head. They just poured out. Audiobooks are also a big part of our family life. We were listening to “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” by Beverly Cleary as I wrote the Audiobook lens. And gosh, I have so many playlists for my Spinning classes. I think sharing something you love is kind of fun.
Besides the fact that you mentioned it in your bio, it’s clear by your lenses that you’re a reader who loves talking (and writing) about books. Any surprise topics we can look forward to on upcoming lenses? Before I start any more lenses, I need to finish finding the MP3 links in the ones I’ve published. (Takes forever.) Has “berry picking with kids” been done? Probably. I find the “original”, narrative part of lens writing to be challenging.
If you could travel to one place you’ve never been, where would it be and why? If I could travel to one place I’ve never been, it would be China. My kids are learning Mandarin at school. I figure they can help me out.
What can Squidoo do for you? I find Squidoo a great resource as a parent and a teacher. Today I was tickled to discover the lens “Learn Mandarin Chinese Online“. It is almost like the lens was written for me. I can use all of the information- like right now. So cool.
Coffee or tea? I love coffee and tea. I start with 2 cups of coffee in the morning and switch to herbal teas for the rest of the day.
