Lensmaster LindaSueAllison has been turning heads since she joined Squidoo just a couple of weeks ago. Don’t forget to check out her very popular lenses just as soon as you’ve read our very interesting interview.
How did you find Squidoo? I pretty much live online, so I’ve known about Squidoo since Seth Godin started it.
You obviously have a talent for fashion and design, and you like movies that “sweep you away.” What else is on your to-make-a-lens-about list? As a writer, I have a split personality. My educational background is in history and cultural studies, and a lot of my serious paid work is in those areas. But I also have this whole quasi-Martha Stewart thing going: I love entertaining, decorating, giving gifts (exquisitely wrapped, of course—presentation is important!), and gardening. I do it all, from putting up my own strawberry preserves as Christmas gifts to baking Easter cakes in the shape of giant Fabergé eggs. I’m a nut. At any rate, that’s the kind of thing I really plan to focus on at Squidoo. The platform seems ideal for lifestyle topics and how-to guides, and I’m bursting with ideas.
If you could travel to one place you’ve never been, where would it be, and why? England. I’ve been an Anglophile since I was a kid, and grew up with a head full of English literature.
What can Squidoo do for you? Squidoo offers an alternative to the usual freelancer’s round of pitching stories to editors. The business model here is of course completely different, but it’s intriguing. I have so many ideas for gift-giving and entertaining that I seriously considered starting my own website; then I realized I could do it all on Squidoo.
Coffee or tea? Coffee all the way. Fresh ground from whole beans.
