Please say hello to lensmaster LeenaBK. Leena has been on Squidoo for just over a week but she’s already made several lenses on two of our best topics around here (travel and food). She’s also one of our newest RocketSquids. I think you’ll enjoy our interview, and her lenses.
How did you find Squidoo? Ever since I gave up my full time job as a bank employee after my son was born, I have been writing freelance for various sites without my name appearing on any :-(. I wanted some credit for what I was doing. I started with a little blogging but I found it to be quite a lonely journey. I love interacting with people and blogging wasn’t really giving me that. Besides I had no idea of blogging and having to learn everything from scratch all alone was not quite appealing. So I set off on this search looking for places where I could write whenever I wanted to as well as get credited for and be paid too. Call it luck or fate, I soon came across a blog that mentioned about the top ten websites that would pay me for writing and Squidoo was on number one. (Bless the blogger though I don’t remember the blog name or address anymore.) While the name “Squidoo” and the fun logo fascinated me, I was even more fascinated when I saw what Squidoo was all about. It was exactly what I had been looking for. A place where I could write about whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted with no hassles of having to maintain an entire blog while interacting with so many like minded and diverse set of people from all over the world.
You’re clearly passionate about food and travel, your two main “niches.” What can we look forward to eating, I mean reading, next? Yes. Food and travel are my two passions of course besides writing. So I combine all of them and do it here on Squidoo :-). Since I hail from India, you can expect a lot of Indian recipes from me. I hope you enjoy them. My next food related lens will be about Cooking Pork Vindaloo. It’s an interesting dish that bursts with sweet, spicy and tangy flavors and is popularly eaten for dinner on Easter in India. I am also currently working on a lens that will take you on a tour of 13 places in India, bringing out the true colors, feel and look of India.
If you could travel to one place you’ve never been, where would it be? I’d love to travel to Costa Rica one day for I’ve heard and read so much about the place and the beautiful natural attractions that it offers. I think the place has everything to offer for a nature lover like me with many jungles and lagoons, lovely wildlife, Pacific beaches, hot springs and an active volcano too.
What can Squidoo do for you? Like I mentioned above, I think Squidoo is already giving me almost everything that I need for now. Over time however, I’d love more interaction and opinions from the diverse set of people here. I’d also like to earn some money. Probably Squidoo can also start a travel magazine since I’d love to contribute to it.
Sunrise or sunset? Sunrise. I love mornings. I’m an early riser and I love to see the sun rising.
