Meet Laura, laurapeterson215 on Squidoo. You’ll notice her sense of humor right away, both in her interview responses and in her lenses. Have an enjoyable read and please make Laura feel welcome!
What brought you to Squidoo? I’d love to say I had a dream of a giant squid that told me to visit the Great Squidoo of the Web, but alas, the real answer is much more mundane. I first discovered Squidoo through an internet/affiliate marketing forum (Bring the Fresh) and also through other video trainings. So, like others, I was lured by the ability to grow myself, my traffic and exposure (and my wallet). I had no idea I’d be hooked from the first lens! It helps that I can get points which I see as little rewards. Certainly validates my desire to be liked and makes me perform more!
Your first lens is a very fun approach to a product review, and you talk in your bio about lots of other things you love. Any hot topics we can look forward to in the near future? Thanks! You know, I started thinking of blenders and I really do have a love affair with them and then inspiration just kind of hit. And it was fun!
I’m a mom of two young boys and they certainly grab a lot of my attention and lead me to some of my inspiration so you might expect some mom kind of stuff (or maybe baby, or home birth or water birth or … I could go on and on!). I just joined Rocket Squids and I think my very next lens will be on stress-reducing tips for busy moms (maybe, just possibly relevant to one or two other moms out there?!).
Some of my other passions, which might lead to lenses, include health and wellness, whole foods, natural beauty, making natural beauty products and cleaning products (including ditching the shampoo – gasp), homeopathy, some of my favorite affiliate sites, law of attraction, self-sustainability, and gardening without a green thumb among other things (looks like I’m going to be busy!). I guess it’s a tad obvious that I’m a bit of a nature girl. I love clean healthy living (though you can’t always tell that from the cleanliness of my house) and am a perpetual learner. I’m an avid student of the power of our thoughts and spirituality and you’ll see that running through my lenses I’m sure!
If you could travel to one place you’ve never been, where would it be? I only get to pick one? Sad. Well, I have romantic notions of a trip to Italy. Not Rome so much as Tuscany and little provincial villages (maybe some in France too). Seems quiet and peaceful and yummy too. Oh and I have to add another, sorry. Have you seen those places in Bora Bora I think (and maybe some other places too) where they have what look like huts, built on stilts out over the water? I think it’s at high end resorts, but that sure looks relaxing and stress reducing! If anyone wants to send me to one of those to research and write about stress reduction in the tropics, I’ll pack tonight (oh and childcare is a necessity, thanks).
What can Squidoo do for you? You know, Squidoo is already feeding some of my tendencies (attention, rewards, that sort of narcissistic thing). I’m definitely here for some financial rewards too (or my husband might make me get a real job). But mostly I’m discovering the incredible community and seeing how fun the people are here on Squidoo and how interactive and positive the community is and I love it. So, continue being a great community filled with fun, positive people. That’s what you can do for me!
Flip flops or sneakers? Both. Depends on the time of year. Living in Florida, I don’t like sneakers in the summer so much. And I don’t really like tight, restrictive sneakers. And some flip flops are uncomfy after a while. So I like to rock pairs of super comfy shoes, whether sneeks or flips. My current favorite comfy sneakers are from Kalso Earth and they are this salmon pink color which I just love. I haven’t found a favorite comfy flip flop just yet. So, if I had to choose, I guess, sneakers being that it’s winter and I love my pink shoes. (Just don’t put me in stilettos and we’ll be fine). Oh and above those two, it has to be bare feet. Except when they are cold. Then, socks. Just socks.
