Say hello to Alex, aka Alex-Gopson on Squidoo. He’s been with us a month now and has taken Squidoo by storm with both his lenses and his presence around the site. Enjoy what he had to say in our interview then go pay some of his lenses a nice visit.
What brought you to Squidoo? A better question would be, “What brought you back to Squidoo?”. I actually did have a registered account with two completed lenses on old-school Squidoo- I believe like 2008. I never really got into it, though I do remember earning some money from a lens about The Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately I don’t remember the email, username, or password associated with this account, and I have no idea if it still exists. As for what brought me back, I was looking into earning passive income through writing, one of my biggest passions, and heard a lot of good things about Squidoo. I looked into similar sites, but Squidoo has a clean and easy-to-use editor interface. I’m not artistic, but even I can make pretty-looking pages with ease.
You say on your bio that your lenses are as varied as your interests. Any new interests lately that we can expect to read about in the near future? I can’t make any promises, but I’ve been playing piano pretty periodically the last couple days. I’ll have to look into where I can go with that.
If you could travel to one place you’ve never been, where would it be and why? Definitely Germany. I’m almost 100% German myself, and I like German food. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a lot of history to take in throughout the country, plus it would give me an opportunity to check something off my bucket list- driving on the autobahn.
What can Squidoo do for you? I like writing, and I like earning passive income. I’m hoping that Squidoo can jumble those two activities together. However, I think it’s also important to recognize that in order to make any serious income on Squidoo, you have to contribute back to the community first. I’ve been reading a lot on the forums, and I see new members asking questions about why they haven’t earned any money yet. I still haven’t earned any money either, but I also haven’t made a big enough dent into the website. If you want to make lots of money, you’ve got to affect lots of people. Contributing something positive, useful, or entertaining to them is a great way to do that, and it’s what I would like to do here.
Tots or fries? Good question. Tots are a lot harder to obtain, particularly when you go out to eat, so I feel like that gives them a more coveted and revered reputation. But it’s also important to recognize that fries are multifarious- they’re awesome in a milkshake. So if I had to give an answer I would say… yes.
