Phasing out Clearspring Modules
Right now Squidoo supports the Clearspring platform, which houses a lot of fun satellite modules for us. Alas, many of these widgety modules have grown obsolete or broken over time, and are out of our control to update or fix. Clearspring has also historically made it possible for advanced lensmasters to create some of their own modules and offer them to the community, which in principle is wonderful. But in practice this means that we wind up with a clusterjam of bugs, security problems and some times leaky modules that we can’t support, verify, debug, or promise will work.
Soon we’re going to be disabling Clearspring modules and removing them from our system. There shouldn’t be anything you need to do, but we wanted to give you a heads up. We’ll post again when it’s time for us to remove the modules.
Last, we know that a few Clearspring modules created by smart lensmasters are very popular, such as a ratings widget and a bookmarking module. We like those too! We’re going to try to replicate these in a more secure, supported setting and offer similar replacement modules to you over time.
