SquidooHQ: Welcome to our new watering hole

Welcome to our new watering hole.

We’re excited to release the new SquidooHQ official group blog today. You’re looking at it.

It’s kind of like a daily newspaper of important Squidoo ongoings. It consolidates all our official SquidTeam blogs, Twitter feeds, and Facebook in to one place to make it easier for lensmasters to keep up with announcements. The SquidooHQ blog agenda is entirely focused on communicating with our lensmasters and creating content that will help you get the most out of your creative writing efforts on the site.

Allow me to introduce you to the sections you see across the top:

  • Today on HQ: A blend of the most recent posts from different categories.
  • News: This is where we’ll be posting announcements about features, lensmaking tips, insights, and basically anything about using and making the most of your time on Squidoo.
  • Status Updates: This is where we’ll post about widespread bugs we’re working on, big fixes, site maintenance or other out to lunch notices. You’ll probably see some of Gil in this section.
  • Lens of the Day (LotD): The same Lens of the Day you know and love, incorporated into this new space. If you were previously subscribed to the LotD emails, you’ll still get those. Bonnie and Robin are going to start lending a hand as LotD Editors along with Kimberly.
  • Lensmaster Spotlight: For the past few months, Kimberly has been posting Q&A style interviews with some very interesting lensmasters. She’s aiming to post one new Spotlight interview per week. Maybe more. Maybe less.
  • Morning Coffee: A chance for someone on the Squidoo Team to sit down and review the day ahead and share highlights and updates with our lensmasters. This is usually a pretty casual and fun daily post, and we encourage you to comment and share how your day is going, too!

We’re also opening comments on each new post going forward. Many of us on the SquidooTeam will be actively participating in comment conversations here on the blog. (On topic, of course). We think this is going to be a good way to not just push announcements out to you, but to also get your feedback and discuss specific items with you guys in an organized, directed, open, non-anonymous way.

Final (important!) bit of info about this:  If you were previously subscribed to the SquidBlog via RSS or email, please note that you are still subscribed… but you will be getting alerted to new posts here from any category.  If you find the volume of posts is too high for you, especially for you email opt-ins, please do unsubscribe. And maybe you’ll choose to digest SquidooHQ updates via Facebook or Twitter instead. All new posts made here will push out to those profiles for easy following.

I hope this new one-stop Squidoo watering hole makes your lives a little easier.

Cofounder of Squidoo.

Love it, but wish you would publish the full RSS feed…

    • http://www.squidoo.com Megan Casey, Cofounder

As far as I know, the full RSS feed is working. You can find it here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/squidoo-hq. Also see the top right of this page for the big orange RSS icon, which should take you there. Every new post feeds in. — Megan

The feed works, but unlike my other subscriptions that display the entire post, the SquidooHQ one only shows the first couple of lines and a link to “continue reading” which brings me to the blog. There is usually an option to publish the FULL feed so that the entire posts are displayed on the RSS reader such as Google reader.

I am not the best with forums. But reading something like this, sounds great. Very cool.

    Looks great!

Is it possible to get an rss for each individual section? Like you said, I’m getting a bunch of posts in my RSS reader and I’m more interested in some posts (news, status updates) than others (lensmaking tips, LotD). If there were individual feeds I could pick and choose the ones I want to read.

  • ShaynaCat

Think this is a great idea – as a Squidoo newbie I’m very much looking forward to some Morning Coffee with you!! :-)
