Q: Lensmaster FairfieldCountyFoodie wants to know: I just created a lens….how do people see it? What is the URL that I can pass to friends and family?
Answered by clouda9: Aha! The million dollar question…let me unveil a few of my strategies, I feel assured others will chime in with their ideas too.
First off and very importantly, don’t expect your workshop address (http://www.squidoo.com/workshop/lens-url-title) to reach any one, so make certain to share your new lens address sans the workshop part attached.
A couple of ideas to get fresh-eyes seeing your new creation…
- Twitter.com – Go directly to your account on Twitter, write a short blurb, attach your new lens url and tweet it to the world! You can also do this directly from your lens by clicking on the Twitter button, located at the top.
- Facebook.com – Same holds true if you have a profile set up on Facebook. You can introduce your new lens by posting a status update on your profile. It’s also easy to do this via the FB button at the top of your lens.
- Copy and paste your new lens address into an email, write an I’m excited note about your new creation and send it off to your family and friends. <—No spamming allowed, okay?!
- Amplify.com – Without getting into everything that you can do with this application (I’ll let you read), suffice it to say that by adding one link, Amplify has the potential of virtually sharing your link with several sites across the Internet.
Important reminders and points to ponder…
- Keyword research and strategically building your lens is how your work will get noticed by search engines such as, Google, Yahoo and Bing. <—That means more people seeing your lens from organic traffic.
- When your lens actually goes live varies and is dependent upon your status on Squidoo…Giant Squids are promised immediate publication, newer lensmaster work goes through a filter and may take up to 48 hours to visible on the site.
- Use the Squidoo topics to your advantage. As you build your lens don’t publish until you have set up Other Settings (on the right, scroll to the bottom). Placing your lens into the proper topic and subs is an important step to getting your lens categorized, much like a public library or large bookstore your lens will be easier to find within the Squidoo platform.
And now….your thoughts?
