     LOL!  I answered it with what I do most often, but to be completely honest, when I am really concentrating and trying to write, I need silence.  However, when I am choosing photos, setting up the modules, selecting products, etc., I always have either the TV or my downloaded music playing :)

      Same here : ). I like to “shop” Amazon for really unique items or check out Flickr photos while I am relaxing in the evening and the TV is on. Writing – more concentration, to be sure.

    It depends what I’m working on if I’m writing the content than I need peace and quite, and maybe some soothing tea :) Generally, I like listening to music while creating my lenses.

    I’m “old school” when it comes to writing the content in the sense that I need complete silence….(lol) But as soon as it’s written I crank the music up to upload pics on my lens…then I make a strong HUGE cup of Arabic Coffee to “stimulate” and inspire the senses! 
    BTW I’m addicted to squidoo and loven the addiction!

    Depending on my mood, I may need complete silence and other times, I welcome music playing.

    When I write, I tend to block out everything.  I’m not a background music kind of gal.  What I do like, though is having something to munch on.  Finger food at the computer is a requirement and usually includes chocolate chips.  Dark chocolate chips, of course.  Gotta keep it healthy!

    I like to have it quiet, but with all the birds and animals around, that is not an option.  I usually have a dog or a cat curled at my feet, sometimes trying to get into my lap, when I work.

    I have to take breaks every hour or so to go see what’s going on in the outside world.

    I have to have at least two strong cups of coffee and lie down on my couch with my feet up! I also like to play some nature sounds on my Ipod Touch and then I just go with the creative flow!

    I like to work in the morning (that’s when I’m the most creative) with a few cups of coffee and complete silence. Then I get on with the rest of my day.

    There’s usually a cup of tea in there somewhere, sometimes with music, sometimes without. My brain goes at a million miles an hour though so I am usually doing about five things at once, with Squidoo open in one window, something else in another, something else in another… lol!

    I work on the couch with my laptop….and need quiet to focus…so usually nothing is on except maybe the TV on weather or a news channel muted just in case something happens worth knowing about…and yes, there’s coffee…in fact that reminds me…time for my afternoon iced coffee!

    I often have one of the TED talks running in a video off to the side or in the background. 

    Aaah. O can’t believe so many of you squidoo in silence. If I feel like I am being distracted with someone else talking, then I’ll at least throw on the theme song to Jurassic Park to inspire my writing. (Or the same song slowed down 1000X if I’m writing a SquidBoo).

    I have my laptop in the living room and I watch tv while I Squidoo and any other computer work.  I am usually watching my soaps Y&R and B&B and FOX news or Bravo reality shows.  I usually get caught up in computer work and miss what I was watching.  Thank goodness for DVR

    I like “squidooing” very much, so I profit of every spare little corner I have during the day or the night, the moment when I feel more creative (I like to write when everybody else sleeps!). I always have soft music on and sometimes I stop writing to sing (under this aspect, I’m really the Italian of the “common character”!!!).
    When I’m in Rome, I have my lovely cat near me (she loves to sleep near me!); when I’m in Denmark, I can hear and see the birds feeding in front of my window. Such a nice scenary to squidoo, isn’t it? :)

    I work lying on my back in bed with the laptop on my lap. I’ve been doing this for years and I can’t work as effectively in any other position. I’m in trouble should I ever have to get a “real job”. I doubt any corporate environment would tolerate this.

    When writing silence is essential for me but for general squidoo activities the radio is usually on with current affairs and news. Comfort, warmth and passion for what I write aren also must haves. Usually I work from early morning until midday and occasionally at night at squidoo activities.

    It depends, sometimes I put Katy Perry on blasting out on my stereo, other times I am quietly investigating and getting excited about what I love.  And today, I was eating porridge while typing lol!

    99% of the time I am now on my exercise bike with the TV on in front of me for background noise. I can’t stand total silence, it drives me crazy.

    My husband built a stand for my exercise bike so my laptop can sit on it and I can peddle while I’m working on the web. Otherwise, I don’t think I would find enough time in the day to get any exercise in. You’d be surprised at how many calories you can burn when you are not thinking about it and just typing away.
