That’s How We Multitask
Last week we asked what you do while you’re working on lenses.
We figured most of you would simply answer the poll with “I listen to music” or “I do it while the kids are napping” or “I need silence!” We didn’t expect so many fun answers explaining how your exact routine goes!
Here’s what you said:

30% of you multi-task and work on other projects
20% listen to music
16% watch TV or a movie
6% of you are building lenses with the kids running circles around you
14% can only work in absolute silence
the rest of you are doing something else or a combination of things, such as:
“I don’t need complete silence but my routine is best if I work on Squidoo before the rest of the house wakes up with a steaming hot coffee in front of me!”
“Generally there is a Dr. Pepper within my reach, a puppy on my lap, and 10,000 thoughts in my head for other lenses, but one at a time is the way to go.”
“I’m usually pretty focused when I’m building a lens, but I plan regular breaks to catch up on household tasks, make my (near) daily run to the produce market, or follow up on email and other mundane computer chores.”
“I usually have to have several things on the go, as sometimes my brain gets bored. Sometimes this means that I’m working on more than one lens, or have other lenses open to read and/or bless. Or else I’ll be researching in one window, chatting to someone on Skype, writing an article in Word, or working on some fiction, and juggling between those and a lens! Either that or I’ll be the complete opposite. If it’s an in depth lens that requires concentration, I’ll focus and the only other windows I’ll have open are for research or product searches for Amazon etc! Either way, it’s usually somewhere between 9pm and 2am in the morning! The joys of being a writing mum!”
“While listening to music and drinking coffee in Winter, iced tea in the Summer, I must juggle the 2 dogs. One sits behind me on my chair, leaving me about 6 inches to sit on. The other one goes back and forth between my lap and her bed next to me. Neither one lets me write for very long. It’s amazing I get anything done, let alone craft lenses.”
Thanks for sharing a peek into the life of a lensmaster and telling us what else you’re doing out there while your fingers are flying.
