Fun for the Fourth

The Fourth of July is a US holiday known for picnics, fireworks, camping, and having a blast…literally. It’s a multi-faceted holiday that kicks off the official feel of summer and gives families an opportunity to enjoy friends, food, and outdoor fun.

Some families have Fourth of July traditions; they always have a cookout or go camping or participate in a parade. My family always seems to work over the 4th, since the hospital never closes.

With the 4th being on a Monday, we have the whole weekend to build those last minute lenses. Need a few good ideas? Here are a few to consider:

Fireworks:
- how they work, the science of it all
- videos set to music
- sparkler safety for young kids
- a review of the best local shows

Food:
- how to plan a picnic
- food transportation tips
- red, white, and blue food and desserts
- unique foods to grill

Camping:
- make a standard packing list
- camping with toddlers
- campground safe sports and games
- making do in the wilderness

Sports and Entertainment:
- games made with things around the house
- best patriotic movies
- patriotic costume and dress-up ideas
- best local parades

Decorating and Crafts:
- banners, centerpieces, and place settings
- recycled and reclaimed artwork and decor
- kids’ crafts and coloring
- dog dress-up ideas

If you have a new or existing patriotic lens, post it here! We’ll pick a few of our favs for a 4th of July roundup. Enjoy!
