The Horse Boy

When I think of charity, I tend to think of helping people that I’ll never meet. That’s why I’m so touched when I learn about a cause through the story of an individual person.

Diagnosed with autism at a young age, documentary filmmaker Rupert Isaacson’s son Rowan became increasingly harder to communicate with until he discovered a powerful bond with horses and shamans. Where’s the best place in the world to find both of these elements? Why, in Mongolia, of course.

The Horse Boy Movie is a project to document Rowan’s magical journey in a distant land. What’s more, a portion of the film’s proceeds will help establish an autism center in Austin, TX. Rowan embarks on his trip this summer, but until then you can learn about the project, watch the trailer, and find out more about autism by visiting today’s Lens of the Day.

Good luck Rupert and Rowan!
