Lens of the Day: Welsh Lovespoons

Bonnie Diczhazy by on Tue, Jan 31st, 2012

When I was young my Aunt had a spoon collection from England. They were tiny, silver and had a little picture of the countryside. Since then I have always thought that spoon collections were pretty neat. So when I came across Welsh Lovespoons by I was enthralled.

These beautiful works of art are both intricate and powerful. Their designs even tell a story…

“By combining selected symbols and motifs it is possible to create a lovespoon whose message represents exactly what you wish to say. As with traditional fan or flower language, romantic and very personal sentiments can be expressed in these lovely, non-verbal ways.”

So do check out the history, the beauty and the artists who bring Welsh Lovespoons alive.

Thank you for these tips! I believe I’m already following the fourth and
the fifth one, but I have to pay attention to the first three ones. I already
knew these tips, but I was not paying attention to their importance. I loved
    Hemingway’s short story!

    Godfrey Smith

‘In the same way that a woman becomes a prostitute. First I did it to please
myself, then I did it to please my friends, and finally I did it for money.’

Kind of reflects my phases of Squidoo, but more cumulative, with all three attitudes prevailing at the end!

My own rule of thumb whenever I sit down to write is to keep the standard questions at the ready; what, when, where, how an’ why.  Then, if I don’t a’ready have an idea in mind, I write the first word that comes to mind.  Then, a second word, a third an’ so forth until something is triggered that is interesting enough to share.

Thank you for these excellent tips.  Your suggestion for reading ‘The Greats’ is summa’ the best advice I can imagine.

One can always copy first the image before editing it in any way (like cropping or resizing); so there is always left one initial pic.
