Lens of the Day: Homemade Chinese Dumplings

I don’t know about you but when someone says they got a recipe from their mom, my ears perk up.

I grew up on home cooking where everything was made from scratch and to me nothing can compare to the old recipes.

That’s why I was really excited to find Homemade Chinese Dumplings where lensmaster ArthurF shares his mother-in-law’s recipe via his wife’s cooking.

At my house we love it but I’ve yet to conquer Chinese cooking.  The terrific directions and photos provided on this lens give me the confidence to give it a try.   I’ve even got an Asian market right up the block. How lucky is that?

How about you?  Will you join me in testing out this yummy recipe?

I’ll definitely try this recipe out. About 3 months ago I was really heavy into Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. If you haven’t seen the show you should check it out. Anyway I got it in my head that I want to make some dumplings because the. Chinese restaurant I used to get the from was closed. They turned out ok but I think I need a lot ore practice.

Nope:), I’m not feeling all that adventurous right now but I would love to know what is the difference between Chinese dumplings and the dumplings that are made in America or in other parts of the world. My mom used to make a mean Chicken and dumpling dish;)! I have to be in the mood to start cooking up meals like that:)! Hope yours turn out right:)!!!

Thanks for the cute lens! It makes me miss my Mom as she always had a knack to cook from her soul. She would just know what to put into a dish and it was always delicious. I got my love of cooking from her and watching her cook. Its kind of an art that some people are good at. Your lens made me think of her and her delish cooking methods! Good luck with the Chinese food mmm…

Good dumplings can be juicy, chewy, and sometimes a little crunchy when fried a bit after steaming.

It’s not difficult to make the dumplings but mastering the technique of how to pinch to seal them correctly takes lots of patience & preserevance. :))
