A Little Old Man
This lensmaster puts all your cheesy motivational posters to shame. You want real inspiration? Ask Amanda why she’s walking 60 miles to stop breast cancer this September.
“On Day Two [last year] we passed a little old man sitting all alone in a lawn chair in his front yard right by the sidewalk. A sign he’d made out of a cardboard box was sitting at his feet. In scribbly black letters it said, ‘THANK YOU for walking — my wife died of breast cancer.’ He held an 8 x 10 picture of her on his lap and smiled at walkers as they walked by.”
Wow.
Amanda is one of a growing number of charity walkers and runners and bikers using Squidoo to recruit donors and participants. But these lensmasters are not just laying out the who, what, when, and where about their event. They’re giving us the why — the story. And that’s what gets our attention.
