Collecting Elongated Coins

Collecting Rocks and Minerals

3. Collecting Rocks and Minerals

I was only 5 when I went snooping in my father’s closet. Much to my great surprise I found his childhood Rock and Mineral collection stashed away in the back. My eyes lit up as I thought I found hidden treasure and was convinced I was now rich. When my fat…

Collecting Matchbox Tops

6. Collecting Matchbox Tops

I have collected Matchbox Tops since I was just a young lad. In those days, when many more people smoked and before the days of disposable lighters, it seemed like everyone who smoked (and there were many more then) had a box of matches in their pocket or…

As we continue to simplify our lives, I have divested myself of almost everything I collect–except books. Though my book collection is a third what it once was, I still cannot let go of many of my treasures. Thank you for sharing this collection of lenses. I’m especially intrigued by the dough bowls.

I collect books on the topic of wild edible plants. I like the challenge of finding something to munch while hiking. Using wild edibles may someday become more important than just a hobby. You never know. I teach people to get started hunting for edibles. I like the fact that plants don’t run when you approach them (unlike wild game critters).

The thing about pressed pennies, is that they are not pennies. They are just collector “coins.” It is against the law to press a real penny. Your penny is not squashed. I am not sure why more people do not know this.

Dragons, Dragons and more Dragons!! And of course Dragonflies heh… I collect little things people lose and put them in the garden outside of my home. Can be so many different things…. I found a noah’s ark awhile back so I put that in the garden, it is about to go into the compost box now due to weathered age. I discovered a castle recently and decided to use that as the central theme when the ark is removed. Instead of mulch I throw in things like old things from aquariums, stones, grasses and all…they look lovely and don’t have to be pruned :o)

I have never really collected anything for any length of time, as I find you get too much junk. However as a kid I did collect stamps for a while, and then in my teens beer mats. I suppose I could claim photographs as I have hoards of them and they also fill up my hard drive pretty fast!
