Ruthi is the “Books For Kids” Contributor on Squidoo

ruthiandtidbitToday we’re happy to introduce you to Ruthi. She’s our “Books For Kids” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
For the children: I am on a mission to put them between the covers of books for kids that will take them on a magic carpet ride into unknown worlds where learning is pure and sweet, for their own sake and as an example to the adults around them.

For adults: I am on a mission to send you back in time to youthful exuberance found only in books for kids, for yourself as well as for the sake of the children in your life.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
Time after time… As a child, kid’s books were a breath of fresh air and sunshine amid an abusive childhood. As a teen, they were an escape and a rebirth. As a young adult with a child of my own, through books with my son I could capture true childhood, even if not my own. As an adult, books again became a haven from abuse. And now, older and wiser, I have books for kids to, finally, live a childhood – MINE – not a second childhood as I often jokingly say, but the one I never had. And just maybe time will be on my side and I will grow through them to become all that I can be, which is the magic hidden in the pillow pages between the covers of a children’s book in hand and heart.

Who had the most influence in your life?
Where books are concerned, I have to say my grandmother. What little time I was able to spend with her, she recited classic poems word for word, time after time. She knew the stories of old, hundreds of them, by heart. She gave me the gift of poetry and I will forever be grateful to her for that.

I need mention, too, that my mother and my son have influenced my life more than anyone on earth.

Books for kids just may have been the thing that led me to believe what I learned from the both of them. For you see, a child’s storybook, no matter its intention, opens the door to the magic of living in the light, no matter the darkness.

Ruthi, you’re an inspiration – you’ve endured through all of it and you’re in charge of an area for Squidoo that symbolizes ‘all things are possible if you believe’ – I’ll be following your success as you build this area and bring books to kids – we have a wonderful collection from our kids over the years, so I’ll watch for books we may have that I can write about too from your reviews :)

Oh, I do believe, Barbara! I guess I was born in the right state, where Ohio’s motto, authored by a child, says: With God All Things Are Possible. I feel the same way about books for children. I look forward to capturing you as a reviewer!

I loved reading adventure books as a child, and think it wonderful when kids show an interest in reading books! it is so important that they are encouraged at a young age to appreciate a really good book! and love that ruthi is in charge of Books for kids! I love going down memory lane as she highlights some of my favourite reads as a child!

Oh yes, Lisa, books and their stories told hold great adventures for the young ones as well as for those, like myself, who wish to defy growing old.

Ruthi, you are the perfect Books for Kids Contributor! Your enthusiasm is evident and contagious. I would imagine you could get a gopher to read :) Or, at least sit down long enough to listen to a book being read to him.
