mbgphoto is the “Photo Bug” Contributor on Squidoo

Self PortraitProudly introducing mbgphoto. She’s our “Photo Bug” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
Photography is such a wonderful hobby and in today’s digital age it is even more exciting. There are so many ways to take great photos: cameras, phones, tablets!! The list seems endless with more coming everyday. This influx of venues gives everyone the opportunity to be a photographer. You can spend as much or as little time as you want and yet with a bit of luck you can get a good picture. However, if you really want to take consistently great photos there is a lot to learn and this knowledge if ever changing.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
I’ve always been the one to take the photos in our group but it was really about 7 years ago when I retired that I became totally immersed in the hobby of taking photos. I took classes, read books, and spent a lot of time practicing my skills. I found that there is always more to learn and for me that is a wonderful challenge.

I love trying to make each photo a bit better than the last one. I think falling in love with my topic happened over time but the moment I realized how enthralled I was in the topic, was when I found myself riding along in the car one day and looking at every object on the roadway and wondering how it would look behind the lens of a camera. Being a photographer really makes me see the world differently!

Mary Beths’ photography has always been breathtakingly beautiful. I was so impressed with her photography when we first met, that I absolutely had to have it in my home. Fortunately for me, she has a Zazzle store and I was able to bring a few of her selections home. Now, when I drink coffee from one of my favorite mugs, I get to enjoy her work, as well as be reminded of an awesome friend.

Congrats. I’m a bit of an amateur photographer myself… I got a little Brownie at the age of 10 and have been snapping photos ever since. My husband used to make fun of me but now he is grateful I have captured so many family moments for posterity. Ha.

Hi Mary Beth! I seem to see you everywhere these days! My cell phone is my camera but it captures moments for me, enabling me to add another dimension to my memory and it allows me to utilize my own photos more now on my Squidoo lenses. Maybe one of these days you’ll entice me into buying a big girl camera!

  • adventuretravelshop

I was very lucky because my high school offered photography as an exam subject at Advanced level. We had a darkroom and in those days it was all about processing and chemicals! I loved it. I stopped when I went to uni. These days I need photos for my Squidoo lenses, so I’ve been taking my camera with me where ever I go, even the kitchen! I can’t wait to see your work. Congratulations.
