Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.
Photography is such a wonderful hobby and in today’s digital age it is even more exciting. There are so many ways to take great photos: cameras, phones, tablets!! The list seems endless with more coming everyday. This influx of venues gives everyone the opportunity to be a photographer. You can spend as much or as little time as you want and yet with a bit of luck you can get a good picture. However, if you really want to take consistently great photos there is a lot to learn and this knowledge if ever changing.
Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?
I’ve always been the one to take the photos in our group but it was really about 7 years ago when I retired that I became totally immersed in the hobby of taking photos. I took classes, read books, and spent a lot of time practicing my skills. I found that there is always more to learn and for me that is a wonderful challenge.
I love trying to make each photo a bit better than the last one. I think falling in love with my topic happened over time but the moment I realized how enthralled I was in the topic, was when I found myself riding along in the car one day and looking at every object on the roadway and wondering how it would look behind the lens of a camera. Being a photographer really makes me see the world differently!
