LeanneChesser is the “Committed Vegan” Contributor on Squidoo

leanne_chesserToday we’re proud to introduce you to LeanneChesser.  She’s the new “Committed Vegan” Contributor on Squidoo.

Tell us a little bit about your niche topic.

My niche topic is veganism. For me, being vegan is about making a choice to live a lifestyle that honors animal welfare, the environment and planet, my body and what it wants, and my nutrition. It’s something I care deeply about and that I love learning about.

Tell us about the moment you fell in love with your topic. Was it an immediate thing or did it happen over time?

I fell in love with nutrition and eating the way my body wanted. It started out with me eliminating meat, but still eating fish, dairy and eggs. I later stopped eating fish and then dairy and eggs a while after that. I’m now a vegan (no animal products at all), but it’s still a process for me. Sometimes I’m a lacto-ovo vegetarian in terms of diet (but don’t use animal products in my personal or household contexts) and sometimes I’m vegan. I’m passionate about a vegan diet and lifestyle, however, and I’m moving more and more in the direction of living as a vegan 100% of the time in all ways to the best of my ability.

Who had the most influence in your life?

Various people have impacted me in the area of nutrition. A past friend and business associate was the first one to really affect me. Kris Carr is someone who has had the greatest influence, I’d say. She wrote the Crazy Sexy books (Crazy Sexy Diet, Crazy Sexy Kitchen). There have been others as well.

Thanks for the congrats! Yes, it’s definitely a process and that’s OK. I love all the recipes on Squidoo, too :).

Leanne is perfect as the Committed Vegan Contributor! This is an area where I need a great deal of help. My daughter recently transitioned from a vegetarian to a vegan and I am seriously lost on how to prepare meals for her. Leaving out or substituting for meat was much easier than leaving out dairy products in recipe. Looking forward to great things and awesome lessons!

    • LeanneChesser

One of the top things on my list of to-dos this year is to eat healthier, While I’ve no intention of becoming Vegan, I do enjoy my fruits and vegetables. Leanne, I look forward to your help with that to-do!

    • LeanneChesser

Congrats on wanting to eat healthier, Ruthi!

  • BunnyFabulous

Congrats on being the Committed Vegan contributor. I’m not vegetarian, but I have been eating more and more vegetarian and vegan dishes over the years. I love green smoothies, too! Looking forward to what you have to say. :)

    • LeanneChesser

Awesome! I LOVE green smoothies and I wrote a page about my favorite recipe that I have daily.

  • StephenJParkin

I too am not vegan but subscribe to the concept of cooking for health as advocated by Drs Oz and Joel Fuhrman. We need way more fruits and vegetables than the average person eats. So I can understand why many become vegan.

    • LeanneChesser

Totally agree with cooking for health. It’s my personal belief that for some people, that means being vegan or vegetarian, and for others it means to eat meat. I absolutely agree with your fruits and veggies statement no matter what type of diet you choose.

  • smine27

Although I’m not a vegan, I find myself eating less and less meat. I look forward to learning from you. Congrats!

I enjoy many vegan dishes and often eat vegetarian for weeks at a time, purely accidental, but I appreciate everything we can learn from others who adopt the way of eating.

Hi Leanne, nice to meet you. I’m not a vegetarian though I enjoy the food and I rarely eat meat. I look forward to your lenses and learning more.

  • wdeal1

I am not a vegetarian but I grow and eat a lot of my own vegetables and am always looking for new ways to fix them

  • Judy_Filarecki

I eat a great deal of veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds, but I also feel I need eggs, limited dairy and meets like buffalo, open-range chickens and turkey when I can find it. Grains seem to be my downfall causing increased weight and cravings so I just stay away from them. Since going gluten free, I have found greater satisfaction in vegetables I would never eat before. I look forward to following you.
