Yesterday we introduced the new Squidoo Magazine contributor pages to rave reviews. We’re very excited about showing off our magazine contributors so we’re going to start featuring some of them right here on SquidooHQ.
MSchindel is a jewelry artist and frequent contributor to So Crafty. Here’s her new So Crafty Magazine contributor bio: http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/MSchindel/socrafty and a short interview.
Meet MSchindel
What type of lenses do you enjoy creating on So Crafty?
I’m passionate about designing and making jewelry, so I’ve published a large series of in-depth lenses about working with metal clay as well as lenses on two of my other favorite jewelry making materials, vintage beads and polymer clay. I also enjoy exploring other materials and crafting techniques and sharing what I’ve learned. As an example, when I wanted to give my favorite pair of comfortable sandals a face lift, I decided to document my learning process in text and photographs so I could create my lens How to Paint Shoes for Frugal Fashion Fun, which was selected as LotD and has inspired many readers to try this fun technique.
What do you love about So Crafty Magazine?
I started participating in So Crafty as soon as it was launched and it has far exceeded my expectations! Stephanie Mangino and her team have done a fantastic job of professionally curating and actively promoting craft-related lenses and other relevant content in social media – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest – as well as in the magazine itself. I have seen a noticeable boost in visitors to my craft lenses whenever they have been showcased in a So Crafty feature article with other lenses focused on similar topics (e.g., 6 Sensational Ways to Craft with Clay) and then promoted on Facebook and Twitter. They may receive additional and ongoing visibility via the So Crafty weekly Top 5 articles and monthly Top 10 articles. All the articles have been archived on the site and all my So Crafty lenses have been tagged so that they appear in Related Articles, browsing, and So Crafty search results (e.g., search results for metal clay). The So Crafty home page and category and subcategory pages are designed to provide the maximum number of opportunities for the best craft lenses to be seen by interested crafters. I am extremely grateful that Squidoo has invested in a professional, dedicated team of publicists to increase the visibility our craft lenses and drive targeted, incremental traffic to them. Now any time I produce a terrific craft lens, I can count on the So Crafty team to make sure it gets in front of an interested audience.
