New Lensmasters, Future Bestselling Authors?

susan52 by on Wed, Feb 8th, 2012

Following on the coattails of Tom’s post from yesterday, 5 Lensmaking Tips from Famous Writers, I’d like to introduce you to a handful of new lensmasters who came to Squidoo to hone their writing skills.

When asked “What can Squidoo do for you?” seemly  replied, “Help me improve my writing ability.” He likes to review products and point people in the direction of the best bargains, as he does in his favorite lens so far, Buying a chiminea?

Lensmaster NHJinx says since he hasn’t blogged before, he thought Squidoo would be a great place to start writing. He has a good start with five lenses under his belt already, including Costochondritis in which he describes his own experience with this more than annoying chest wall pain which also contributes to his having time to spend on writing.

VTsquared is an aspiring writer who is writing on Squidoo to help improve her skills, too. You’ll find that she already has a way with words when you read Funny Stuff My Husband Says.

CherryTriggerCola says that “Squidoo can help satiate my passion for writing and give me a portfolio of various topics to further my career as freelance writer.” She has a variety of interests, so watch for lots of lenses from her, starting with How to Make Money: Make Your Own Rainbow and Pot of Gold.

Abbiewolff found Squidoo “while looking for a creative outlet and a way to develop my writing skills and my freelance writing career.” She has big plans both in life (check out her Bucket List) and on Squidoo with 10 lenses so far to her credit.

Squidoo is a great place to practice writing and we’re very glad these aspiring authors are here. Do you feel that your writing skills have improved since you’ve been on Squidoo? Leave a comment to let us know.

Susan52 didn't know she wanted to be a Giant Squid when she grew up, but here she is and she couldn't be happier about it! When she isn't doing one thing or another here at Squidoo, you'll probably find her spending time with her family or otherwise enjoying life one glorious day at a time.

I would like to add myself as a hopeful in the best-selling author contention.  I have a novel out and love using Squidoo to hone my writing skills.  It’s a great place to post and I’ve read a lot of great lenses.

Many thanks for featuring me in this article! Very much appreciated.

Hopefully, the more I write, the better I will get. That’s the theory anyway!
I’ll just keep on plugging away and hopefully be able to provide some informative and helpful posts that people will find interesting.

    Thanks again. =)

What a lovely article! I recently blogged about my gratitude to fellow writers and social media sites and this lens just reminded me once again of the wonderful community we as writers have! Check out my lens – I’m a squidoo newbie, too (well, I don’t know for how long I can still call myself that); you might like it ;-p

I believe that it takes time to become a successful writer just like anything else. Check out Stephen Kings new book,  On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, it’s how he got to where he is today, and believe me it didn’t just happen over night.

I just started writing blogs for the first time about a month ago and I really enjoy it. I also like being able to read about all different kinds of fun and interesting things people write on their own blogs. I hope one day people will come and visit my blog and Like it to help me be on the front page like a lot of you have. I also like your blog and hope to be as good as you one day.

Absolutely yes, my writing skills have improved.  I’ve stumbled around trying to figure out what to say while writing lenses.  With practice and writing about a variety of subjects, I’m starting to understand how to choose subjects and approaches that are easier for me to talk about.

I think that with so many publishing platforms available online it is easier for a writer and author to sell their own books and be self-published on Kindle. Squidoo is a great stepping stone for that goal.

I came to squidoo, but then got sidetracked by a book project which was published by Arcadia Poublishing of Charleston SC -  Images of America – Fort Myer – the first book about this historic US Army Post chronicling the first 100 years from the 1860s to the 1960s in over two hundred historical photographs …  there is a website which is http://www.Historic-FortMyer.com

Hi, i’m a newbie to squidoo and I am hoping to get my lens out asap. I keep getting disturbed by my other half who thinks that I am just messing. Thanks babe. Well to me this is a place where I can express myself, look at other peoples lens and learn new things as well as being able to write which is my first passion.
