February 17th is the unofficial holiday known as Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is all about doing something nice for somebody, just because.

Feel like celebrating this fun occasion with us here on Squidoo?

Here’s a few ideas to help get you started.

Go visit a new lensmaster and welcome them to the Squidoo community.
Find a GREAT lens in need of some lens love and give it a “SquidLike”.
Leave a nice comment for someone on their bio page.
Build a lens and donate all of the earnings to charity.
Build a lens and gift it to a friend.
Nominate a spectacular lens for Lens of the Day, or a Purple Star.
Promote another lensmaster’s super lens on Facebook, or Twitter, or Pinterest.
Tell a friend about Squidoo and offer to help them get their first lens started.

I’ve baked some cookies for my Dad … and now I’m thinking about sending some flowers, or something to a friend and mentor I haven’t seen in a while; she had a huge impact on my life and I think that it would be good to show it :) I’m really excited about a day for random acts of kindness…how nice!

Hello R.A.O.K.C.M. (Random Acts of Kindness Club Members), I went to watch kids talents in a variety show. Wow they all really did great! I liked Taio, Taylor Swift, and Ice Ice Baby. Thank you Robin for featuring my Random Acts of Kindness lens. I have been humbled by the RAKs fellow Squidooers have recently performed and have pledged to do in the guestbook module. One very generous Squidooer recently ANONYMOUSLY paid a $200 vet bill for a retired person who was tight on funds. As someone with three beloved pets of my own, it brought tears to my eyes.

A few days after publishing this lens last week, I was given the chance to do a RAK that I hope made a small difference in someone’s life. I saw one of my ex-storytime grandmothers quietly crying in the aisles. When I approached, she said she was in too much pain to move and didn’t know what to do. I was able to help her to a chair and do all her fetching, checking out, etc for her and then help her out to a waiting family member’s car, carry her bags, open the doors, etc. It took me about 20 minutes and made me 10 minutes late getting to my next post. I remember a disgruntled coworker being upset because it wasn’t part of our job description, but aren’t we supposed to look out for those around us? Some days we all need someone to care just a little bit, even if it is a stranger.

Great idea!
Breast cancer is also a cause very close to my heart. But I would love to donate the money I am making on my lense, a whopping $4-07 thus far, to a charity that provides for quality education in African countries.

I ended up donating to a kids charity because, I guess in my mind kids come first, but because I work in the health care industry I know that they are always short of money, I wish you could wave a magic wand and be able to fix things.

Every day of my life I do my best to make others happy and help them the best I can. Last week, my family and I made homemade Valentines (with art drawings) to give to our local Veterans.

Every holiday that my family has turkey or ham, we buy two and I donate one to a family that I know that works hard and may not be able to afford it because their grocery budget is tight. I try to include the items for the full meal, if we can, especially for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

I donate an extra set of school supplies at the beginning of the school year for a child who’s family is having a hard time buying them due to the economy.

I always do my best to wish all my friends a Happy Birthday with a card or a musical greeting card online. Some think this may be cheesy but I’ve made plenty of friends happy with my special greetings.

Each year, in the fall, the youth group that I help lead encourages our church congregation to do one random act of kindness. Our group named the day (usually a Saturday) R.A.K.E (Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere) On this day, our youth all get together and bring a yard rake and we go all around our town raking leaves. We always ask the home owner if we can give them a random gift. It has been a great learning experience for our youth and many others. Do a random act of kindness daily !! I try to.
