What is your favorite holiday tradition?
My favorite tradition would have to be The Christmas Sock Dive. My grandmother, rather than buy individual gifts for everyone, will buy things in bulk and give them out. For the women, it’s Bath & Bodyworks hand lotion or hand soap. For the men, it’s The Sock Dive. Grandma will pretty much dump a bag full off different pairs of men’s socks on the floor and make the guys go grab them. It’s quite funny!
What’s your favorite holiday food?
Again, I’m going to defer to my grandmother. She specializes in a PA Dutch specialty: pig’s stomach. It’s wonderful. The stomach comes cleaned, and she stuffs it with sausage and potatoes. The stomach gets beautifully crispy when she cooks it. It really is a wonderful and local dish here that many people shy away from.
What do you love most about the season?
I love shopping for people. I’m a big knitter (for example: Six Reasons Why I’m a Knitting Rockstar), too, so I knit a lot of gifts. I relish in seeing people’s faces when they open up a handmade gift and they love it.
What is your favorite childhood holiday memory?
Getting my first camera! It sparked a lifelong obsession in photography for me.
