Needed: Gifts That Are Inexpensive or Free to Mail

packages by grabadonut on flickr via creative commonsWe live far from our extended family, so for years we’ve had to pack up presents, haul boxes to the post office, and spend way too much money shipping said packages halfway across the country. My heart breaks and the checkbook cringes when I end up spending more for postage than I did on the presents themselves.

Bet I’m not the only one knows that feeling. This year I’m seeking professional help. I’m here to enlist the assistance of the best shoppers on Earth, Squidoo lensmasters. Your assignment? Make a lens about a great present that’s easy to mail. Or doesn’t need mailing at all. Get creative! Go beyond the gift card with a recommendation for an awesome gift that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to get it to its destination.

Share your “Gifts that are cheap or free to mail” lenses right here in a comment. Hurry! Christmas is coming up fast!

I honestly wish I knew because I have the same problem!

    • Susan52

Sounds like we both need to put on our thinking caps!

  • Merrci

That’s such a problem. Every year it gets more expensive. I just might have a few ideas!

    • Susan52

Looking forward to hearing about them!

  • getmoreinfo

I am in Australia and need to send my family gifts in the UK, so I would love to hear some ideas!

This is an older lens but it is a perfect fit for this. I hope it helps to inspire ideas in all of you.

    • Susan52

      Thank you, PaigSr! Great suggestions!

I shopped online and took advantage of free shipping from Toysrus. With a 100.00 purchase the shipping was free. There are quite a few online stores offer this service.

Don’t forget about a magazine subscription – you place the order, and let the magazine take care of the mailing. Bonus, it’s a gift that keeps giving all year. :)

I took a different approach. I’ve been a member of the Amazon Prime program for 4 years now and it has saved me tons in mailing. Here’s my lens that explains how it works:

      Good one, resabi! Great suggestion!
