The Big Hearted Squids Support Teachers & Classrooms
The Big Hearted Squids are Squidoo lensmasters who have donated more then $100 to Squidoo charities since joining Squidoo. Each month they’ve been voting on how to spend some of the funds in the Squidoo Charity Fund.
This month the Big Hearted Squids had the opportunity to help share $5,000 from the Squidoo Charity Fund to support teachers and classrooms through DonorsChoose.
Thanks to their votes Squidoo was able to fully fund the remaining classroom projects in need. Here are just two of the projects that are being funded by the Squidoo Charity Fund votes. How cool is that!
School Garden (Above Ground) – School Project: “By building this garden, we plan to incorporate math, science and health activities into the planning, building, and growing. ALL students will participate (including wheel-chair bound). Students will required to select and grow food that they can eat when harvested. Parents will also be involved.”
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – It’s Really All About Economics! School Project: “Unlike the cardboard boxes the kids are presently scrambling with, the plastic bins requested are strong, sturdy, clean, safe and small enough for the kids to handle with ease on their own. The students will be able to continue to expand on their recycling efforts and learn more about how paper and other recyclables can be reused. The next step will be a field trip to a recycling center to witness large scale recycling and its benefits. One of the greatest benefits is how the efforts of my students affects other students in the school.“
